Configure Staff Compensation and Commissions
Compensation profiles determine whether a staff member uses salary, commission or both. Commission rules determine how completed assigned appointment work earns commission.
Add a compensation profile
Section titled “Add a compensation profile”- Open Team → Compensation Profiles and select Add Profile.
- Choose the staff member and an optional location scope.
- Select Commission Only, Salary Only or Salary + Commission.
- Enter the base salary when the type includes salary.
- Confirm whether commission is enabled.
- Choose the displayed payout cycle: monthly, biweekly or weekly.
- Set the effective start date, optional end date and active state.
- Add a concise internal note and save.
An all-locations profile can act as the general profile; a location-specific active profile can be selected for that location and period. Avoid overlapping active profiles for the same staff scope.
Create a commission rule
Section titled “Create a commission rule”- Open Team → Commission Manager and select Add Commission Rule.
- Choose the staff member.
- Optionally narrow the rule to a location and exact service.
- Choose Percentage or Fixed and enter the value.
- Choose the calculation basis: Final Amount or Gross Amount.
- Set the effective start/end dates and active state.
- Save and confirm the rule appears with the intended scope.
Percentage commission cannot exceed 100%. Yepsta prevents another rule for the same staff, location, service and overlapping effective period.
Which rule is used
Section titled “Which rule is used”For eligible appointment work, a service-specific rule is preferred over a generic rule, and a location-specific rule is preferred over an all-locations rule. The rule must be active and effective on the appointment date.
For multi-service appointments, attribution follows each assigned service line where available. Older single-service records can appear as legacy appointment attribution.
When commission is recognised
Section titled “When commission is recognised”Yepsta can calculate the rule and base for assigned work before completion, but the commission amount remains pending until the appointment is Completed. Cancelled, no-show or incomplete work must not be treated as earned commission.
The Staff Performance Analytics page shows service-line revenue, earned commission and source/exception signals. Payroll can include eligible earned commission for its period and location scope.
Correct a setup error
Section titled “Correct a setup error”- While a rule is still the wrong future setup, edit its scope, value, basis or effective window.
- For a replacement policy, end the old rule and create a new effective period rather than overwriting history without review.
- Correct staff/service assignment and appointment status in the source record before rebuilding a draft payroll run.
- Do not expect a rule change to rewrite a finalized or paid payroll run.
