Configure GST for Products and Services

Catalog tax data flows into new invoice lines and later GSTR-1 summaries. Confirm the classification and rate before the item is sold.

Open Catalog & Inventory → Products, then add or edit the product.

Complete product GST fields
  1. Enter a numeric HSN Code with 4, 6 or 8 digits.
  2. Select the official GST Unit / UQC used for the product’s quantity.
  3. Enter the verified GST % from 0 to 100.
  4. Check the selling price against the business-wide tax mode under Settings → Billing & Tax.
  5. Save the product, then add it to a controlled invoice and inspect its HSN, UQC, taxable value and tax split.

HSN and UQC work together: a product with HSN must have a UQC. GSTR-1 can require more HSN digits according to the registration’s turnover band.

Open Catalog & Inventory → Services, select the location and add or edit the service.

Complete service GST fields
  1. Under Pricing & Tax, enter Service Price.
  2. Enter the verified GST %.
  3. Enter SAC Code for a standard service or billable variant.
  4. Save the service and test its invoice line.

A Service Group is an organizing parent and is not billable. Each billable Service Variant needs its own price, GST rate and SAC. If a service or package line has no SAC, Yepsta can use the GST registration’s Default service SAC; explicit, verified item data is easier to review.

The product and service import templates support GST fields. Products can include hsn_code, uqc and gst_percentage; services can include sac_code and gst_percentage, including group and variant relationships. Use the import screen’s validation step before committing a file, and review how duplicate rows will be skipped or updated.

Edit the catalog item only after confirming the correct code or rate. The change flows to new invoice lines; issued invoices retain their captured values. Correct an issued paid invoice through the supported credit-note workflow rather than changing the catalog and assuming history will be rewritten.
