Review a GST Compliance Period
GST Compliance turns current source records into registration-scoped review evidence before return preparation.
Select the registration and period
Section titled “Select the registration and period”Open GST → GST Compliance, choose GST Registration, then choose Review period.
If no current period exists, an authorized user can select Create current period. Yepsta creates a monthly key such as 2026-07 for a Monthly registration or a quarterly key such as 2026-Q2 for QRMP. The financial year is derived and displayed with the period; the current UI does not create an arbitrary historical period from a financial-year picker.
Work with one GSTIN and period at a time. The available period status is:
- Open — created and available for source synchronization;
- In Review — validation has started;
- Ready — blockers are cleared and the current snapshot is approved for locking; or
- Locked — the selected review evidence protects tax-affecting source data and can feed return preparation.
Complete the review lifecycle
Section titled “Complete the review lifecycle”- On Overview, select Sync GST data.
- Review the synchronization result: scanned, added, updated, unchanged and failed records. Correct failures, then sync again.
- Select Run validation. Synchronization does not clear an older issue list until validation is rerun.
- Open Issues. Correct each blocker through Open source, GST settings or another supported action, then sync and validate again.
- Review Documents for the invoice, credit note, supplier bill and purchase-return evidence represented in the period.
- When blockers are zero, select Generate snapshot.
- On Snapshots, compare the current snapshot with live working data. If it changed, synchronize, validate and generate current evidence again.
- Select Mark ready, obtain the required business approval, then select Lock period.
Warnings remain visible review evidence but do not prevent a snapshot. Blockers prevent readiness, locking and controlled return export.
Understand snapshots and source changes
Section titled “Understand snapshots and source changes”A snapshot is a retained, read-only version of the registration, period, documents, totals and validation result used for review. New versions do not overwrite old evidence.
If a source changes after a snapshot, Yepsta marks the older evidence historical or stale. A locked period blocks tax-affecting invoice and purchase changes; recording a payment remains possible because it does not rewrite the tax document.
Reopen a locked period
Section titled “Reopen a locked period”Only a user with Lock access can select Reopen period. Enter a specific Reason for reopening of 10 to 1,000 characters. Yepsta retains every earlier snapshot, moves the period back to In Review, and requires a new sync, validation, snapshot, ready step and lock before replacement return preparation.
